JOB 1: Convert our present web-site to pdf (Portable Document Format) files to allow free-text searching of all our documents, while continuing to present the documents in graphic image format. We are using ABBYY Finereader to process and create pdf files. Due to the large number of websites that link to the page-images we currently have, we will continue to post all materials in both the current format as well as in pdf format. JOB 2: We have now scanned all 39 volumes of The Works of Hubert Howe Bancroft. We will process and post them as graphic images with thumbnail pages soon. As proofreading is completed, we will add the pdf files which will be text-searchable. JOB 3: We are now in the process of scanning the first 48 Annual Reports of the Bureau of American Ethnology, and will begin posting them as time permits. JOB 4: Scan, process and post all of the miscellaneous books and congressional documents that remain in our backlog. JOB 5: Scan, process and post miscellaneous documents that have been offered by various libraries and collectors. JOB 6: Continue to acquire, scan, process and post volumes of the Bureau of Ethnology Bulletins until we have posted the complete collection. |
